SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT (2022-23) Smt. AMRUTHA SANTHOSH (PRINCIPAL)

You can do anything.” – (Swami Vivekananda) with this motto in mind I wish to present the Annual School Report of the School for the Academic year 2022-23.Sadguru Public School is governed by Sri Bhuvanendra Education Trust which was established in 2012. The Annual Report showcases the achievements and glories of our school. We have always been committed to creating an environment in the school which helps the young minds to blossom and provide a platform for individual thinking and holistic development of the child’s personality. We set standards and goals for ourselves and strive to achieve them.

INFRASTRUCTURE 

Sadguru Public School is spread on 6.5 acres of green campus away from the bustling city in a serene and peaceful atmosphere ideal for learning and the healthy growth of our kids. We follow the CBSE system of education. We have 32 classrooms which are all equipped with Smart Boards for learning and also a well- equipped library with a collection of over 4338 books in English, Hindi and Malayalam. The Labs for Science, Computer, Maths and Language have state-of-the-art facilities to make learning more innovative. Our Infrastructure also includes a Seminar Hall, an Auditorium, an Activity room, a Sports room, a Sick room, a Counselors’ room and a State level Swimming pool. 11 School Buses are plying to different locations for the convenience of the students. 

STAFF 

The Sadguru family consists of 42 trained and well experienced teachers. Our teachers are the pillars of the institution. Their dedication and motivation has improved the performance of the students since the inception of the school. We maintain a Teacher-Student ratio of 1:25. We also have 37 supporting staff which includes Office staff, Security, Bus drivers and Assistants who take very good care of the students.  

ACADEMICS 

Sadguru Public School is not just a place where children study and score marks. Our endeavor is to produce future Leaders, Visionaries and Compassionate  human beings through our holistic value-based education system. Our curriculum is multi-disciplinary combining ethics and excellence in education.    

The school strictly follows the CBSE Board and is always updated with the activities of the Board. The School Academic year is divided into two terms. Three periodic tests and Two term examination. Weightage in each of the subjects will be assessed based on Class tests, Classwork, Notebooks, Art Integrated projects, Enrichment activities and Discipline.  

COVID -19 had created much confusion and anxiety across the world like any critical sector, Education has become hard. Students across the globe were deeply impacted. We, the team Sadguru, were quick to respond to the needs of our students and had effectively managed the online classes by selecting the best platform for learning. The online activities conducted by our teachers are praiseworthy. We train and mold our students to be competent by conducting programmes and activities along with academics to provide an extra edge in their overall development. 

The three Batches of Class X added another feather to our cap by securing 100%   pass. The 2019-2020 Batch of Class X that appeared for the Board exam before the outbreak of Covid. Vandana Nambiar was the School topper with 479/500 followed by Anamika M with 478 and Arya P  with 477/500. Toppers in English 98%– Arya P, Nada Thasneem Ahmed, Deepak Bhaskaran, Shradha Raghupathi, Shantheri R Mallya, Indulekha M, and Vidyamol K V. Topper in Malayalam 99% –Arya P. Toppers in Hindi 99%-  Shradha Raghupathi and Gautham Mohan. Topper in Mathematics 96% – Vandana Nambiar and Nandu Krishna K. Topper in Science 97% – Nada Thasneem Ahmed. Topper in Social Science 95% – Vandana Nambiar, Anamika M, Arya P and Vaishnav Narayan. Out of the 29 students,   12 got 90% and above. 

The 2020-2021 Arya Ashok was the School topper with 485/500 , followed by Shivapriya N with 484/500  and Varun P with 474/500 Toppers in English 98%– Arya Ashokan and Shivapriya N. Toppers in Malayalam 96% –Abhinav M K, Safar Mohammed, Arya Balakrishnan, Topper in Hindi 99%-  Arya Ashokan. Topper in Mathematics 96% – Arya Ashokan and Shivapriya N .Toppers in Science 97% – Arya Ashokan and Shivapriya N. Topper in Social Science 95% – Arya Ashokan and Shivapriya N and Varun P. Out of the 43 students,  18  got 90% and above. 

 

The (2021-2022) Batch Class X Batch Devangan Goldy and Pooja Rajeev were the School toppers with 477/500, followed by H Anvita Kamath with 475/500 and K Smrithi Shenoy with 473/500 Topper in English 99%– Sheethal Somaraj ,Topper in Malayalam 99% –Pooja Rajeev. Topper in Hindi 96%- Smrithi Shenoy K. Topper in Mathematics 98% – Devangan Goldy ,Topper in Science 99% – Aman K Prajith , Topper in Social Science 97% – Pooja Rajeev. Topper in Information Technology 99% -Suryagayathri. Out of the 46 students,   11 got 90% and above. 

Hobby Classes   : Hobby classes in Swimming, Karate, Skating, Dance and Keyboard  are conducted every Friday as per the Child’s interest. We do not charge any fees from the students. 

Remedial teaching is also undertaken for the sake of academically weak students. Every day different subjects are handled from 4.00pm-5.00pm.

 Regular Open House meetings are arranged to discuss the progress of the child and to get valuable suggestions for the betterment of the students.  

In order to reduce the Weight of the School bag most of the books are kept in the classrooms and sent back only when homework’s are given or during exams or on long holidays.  

On this occasion I would like to congratulate the Class X students of the previous three years who came out with flying colours in their Board examination. The efforts of our teachers, the confidence of our parents in us and the support of the Management added to the success.  

STAFF ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME 

 In SPS all teachers are well equipped in their respective subjects. They keep updating themselves with the latest guidelines of the CBSE given from time to time. The teachers have attended innumerable training programmes both online and offline. Constant training programmes are held for them to stay updated with all types of modern teaching aids.  Apart from this our teachers attended several other workshops and Capacity Building Programmes conducted by CBSE which were held in different parts of Kerala. – 

  • Life Skill Education and Development –A session on Life skill education was conducted by Daisy P J, Director SWAMP, Calicut on 26.05.22.
  • Effective Communication Skill – A one-day workshop was conducted on 27.02.22 at SPS by Manohar to improvise on the communication skill of the teachers.
  •   Fun, Fair & Firm styles of Teaching and Learning- Dr. Vijayan Karippal , a very renowned Educationist and Psychologist, updated the teachers with the latest trends in teaching methodologies on 30.07.22  
  • Effective Communication and Speaking Skill – The teachers got an in-depth knowledge of the different aspects of communication and how important it is for the teaching community. Ifthikar Ahamed Asst. Prof. Department of English and comparative Literature, Central University of Kerala engaged the teachers with fun-loving techniques of communication on 13.08.22.
  • Our teachers took part in the one day and two days capacity building workshops on framing Question paper in all subjects, on life skills, on Gender sensitivity and workshop on English language and Literature conducted by CBSE at M P International School Periyadka, Kasaragod and Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kannur in the month of August, October, November and December
  • The KG teachers also had several orientation programmes conducted by various publishers.

STUDENTS ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME 

 We need to equip the students with empathy and knowledge, so this year especially we had arranged a number of Student Enrichment programmes to successfully channelize the halo of the young minds. The Sessions enriched our students to comeback after the Covid effect. 

  • A Career guidance and Goal setting session was conducted for classes VIII-X by Afsal Madavoor, a Career Coach and Counsellor. He encouraged the students to pursue their interests and achieve their goals.
  •         An awareness class on the topic Nutrition among adolescents was conducted on 27.07.22 by Dr.Jyothi Shamith, MD , PNPS Ayurvedic Medical College, Parkalai. She stressed on the importance of nutrition and metal health. 
  • In association with the PNPS Ayurvedic Medical College, Parkalai, a half-day session was conducted on the topic Molding the Adolescents. Dr. Thushar T. S MD and Dr. Liji Joseph Prof.& HOD, for both the boys and girls of Class VI-VIII.
  • An Anti-Drug club was inaugurated in our school by the DYSP Sri C K Sunil Kumar, Bekal Police Station on 22.10.22. Along with this an Awareness class was conducted by Excise Preventive officer Sri. Raghunath N G in association with Janamaitri Police Station ,Ambalathara. The Inspectors of Police from Melparamba police station Sri Mukundan T K and Sri Uttamdas felicitated the function. A drama ‘Magic Mittayi’ was presented to make the students aware of the negative impact of drugs.
  • A Cyber security class was conducted at SPS for the students of class VI-X on 03.22 by Sri. P R Sreenath, Senior Police Officer, Chandera Police station
  • As a part of Experiential learning 
  • The students of Class VI- IX standard visited Anandashram and spent a day there getting a first-hand experience regarding the importance of planting trees. It was a wonderful experience for the students to learn to plant saplings. His holiness Swami Mukthanandaji blessed the students.
  • A one-day session on Public Speaking and Confidence Building was conducted for the students of class IX & X by Mr. Linto John, a renowned life coach and Counsellor. At the end of the session many of our students came forward and spoke in front of the audience without any inhibitions.
  • This year we have started a Subject Enrichment Programme for the students of class VI-X so that they are better trained in Science and Mathematics to be competent enough to compete in various competitive examinations in their life.
  • This year we have given special emphasis to the improvement of General Knowledge among our students. A team of teachers give five questions daily from Monday-Friday for the students of class III-X as a home task and then in the class it is discussed the next day. It is showing positive results.

                  

As a regular practice followed every year, this session too began with the Orientation Programme for the Parents. We are not only empowering our students but their parents as well. During the beginning of the academic year the Principal addressed the parents of Class LKG -X standards to make them aware of the present system of education and how parents can contribute in achieving the result. 

 

SCHOOL PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES 

      Kindergarten Convocation   :  Kindergarten is the first step of the education ladder. Our Kids completed their Kindergarten education and their Convocation Ceremony was held on 25.03.22. Rev.Fr. Mathew Kalappurayil CMI , Principal Christ CMI Public School, Kanhangad graced the occasion with his presence. He presented the students their graduation certificates 

Re-opening Day   : Freshers Day was celebrated by lighting the lamp by the Principal Smt. Amrutha Santhosh accompanied by the Vice- Principal, the Academic Coordinator and the KG coordinator. Sadguru welcomed the newcomers with cherishing memories of the cartoon characters near the entrance of the school gate. Principal Smt. Amrutha Santhosh welcomed the students. The Manager of the school, Sri Akshay Kamath presided over the function.  

Felicitation to the third, fourth and fifth Batch of Class X :  The previous three-year school toppers were felicitated by the Principal and the Management. The Chief Guest of the day Management Trustee Sri Gajanan Kamath , presented trophies to the toppers and to the students who score 90% and above.

 

World Environment Day : The World Environment Day was observed on June 5th. Sri.Venugopalan K Agricultural Officer, Pallikkara Grama Panchayat was the Chief Guest of the day. Plant Saplings were distributed to the students and he inaugurated the medicinal garden. 

Reading Week  : The Reading Week was observed to honour the contributions of Sri P N Panickar to the cause of the Library movement in Kerala. The reading week from June 19 –June 24 was filled with a number of literary activities conducted by the English, Hindi and Malayalam departments.  We could witness an active participation by the students and their hidden talents were exposed. The Reading week was inaugurated by Sri.Vinod Alanthata , a renowned teacher, writer, dramatist and a social worker. 

International Yoga Day : Sadguru Public School has given utmost importance to the teaching of Yoga as we understand its benefits in molding our student’s mental and physical health. On the International Day of Yoga Dr. Rajesh Karipath , a Homeopathic consultant and Yoga Therapist gave a talk on the importance of meditation for the wellness of the students. Our students also participated in the Yoga demonstration held at Bekal Fort as a part of the CBSE initiative. 

Red Cross Society   : The Red Cross unit started in our school continues to grow with more and more  students willing to do service activities .The Investiture ceremony of the new team was inaugurated by the JRC Kasaragod District Coordinator Sri Anil Kumar on by presenting the Scarf and Badges to the students. 

Gurupoornima: To pay reverence to our Gurus we observe Gurupoornima every year. The Students of class X offered flowers to their teachers and seek their blessings. The Principal Smt. Amrutha Santhosh addressed the students advising them to be respectful to their Gurus and that would help them to succeed in life. The Chief Guest Sri. Sukumaran Periyachur. A teacher, writer, orator and a social worker enlightened the students by emphasizing the importance of mothers and teachers in their life. 

Vanamahotsav   : Vanamahotsav, The Festival of Planting Trees was celebrated by planting saplings provided by the Forest Department, Periya. The Principal, Smt Amrutha Santhosh inaugurated the programme by planting the saplings in the school campus along with the students. 

Class Library- A class library was inaugurated by the Principal, Smt. Amrutha Santhosh for  class I-X to improve the reading habit among the students. 

Ramayana Month  :    To keep up with our regional culture and imbibe our tradition to our students, we observed the Ramayana Month with full devotion by chanting of the Ramayana every day for a month by the teachers and the students. The month was made appealing to the students by conducting various programmes like Ramayana quiz and recitation of the holy book. Our music teacher Smt. Prasanna Mohan recited the holy epic on the first day. 

Intersquad Quiz Competition – was conducted squad wise for classes III-X where the students performance was outstanding.

A Green delicacy Fest was organised in connection with the Mathrubhumi Seed initiative on the importance of eating green leafy vegetables.

District Level Sports Yoga Championship  was held on 31.07.22 at Kuttamath Higher Secondary School ,Chervathur. Our students got the third position. 

National Sports Day – was celebrated on 29.08.22 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyanchand by organizing sports event for the students.

School Parliament Election  : The School Parliament Election helps the students to develop skills in communication, leadership and decision making. Every year we conduct an authentic election process to elect the Head Boy, Head Girl and the other members to the School Parliament.  Pratham Kamath and Gauri Vidhubala of Class X were elected as the Head Boy and Head Girl for the academic year 2022-23. The Sports Minister Kausthub Ram, Arts Minister Mithul K P, Health Minister Hrithik M Manu, Discipline Minister Sreenidhi Manikandan, Education Minister Nandana C M and Magazine Editor Aagney Anup.  The Investiture ceremony to induct the new members to the School Parliament was organized on 19.01.22 The Chief Guest was Sri Maniraj Nittoor, Tahsildar,Hosdurg . At a glittering ceremony the elected members were sworn in  by the Chief Guest.    

Independence Day   : The 76th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic Fervor and gaiety. The Chief Guest was the Smt. Reshma Abraham Principal of Apple Kids KG, Kanhangad. The Principal Smt. Amrutha Santhosh unfurled the Tricolour flag, which was followed by the march-past, drill and a colourful Cultural programme by the students. Sri Gajanan Kamath, Management trustee gave the keynote address.

     Onam Celebration : Onam was celebrated with cultural fervor. Various competions were held for the students and payasam was also served. 

Teacher’s Day:  On September 5th the students honoured the teachers and received their blessings followed by the chanting of Guru mantras in the morning assembly. The class Xth students were given an opportunity to teach their juniors. In the afternoon they presented variety cultural programme. 

School Fest    : The School Youth Fest UTSAV 2022-23 was conducted with all the zeal and enthusiasm among the students. The Fest was inaugurated by Smt. Subha C P, a teacher and Film actress on 26.08.22. The two day fest had various Competitions which were held Squad wise. The winners represented our school in the District level Sahodaya competitions held at Jayamatha English medium school, Kasaragod and Christ CMI school, Kanhangad.  

The KIDS Fest was also conducted for the Kindergarten where all the students participated with enthusiasm. 

Gandhi Jayanti  : To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi , October 2nd our students cleaned the surroundings. Our students participated in several competitions conducted by the Janamaithri Police Station ,Ambalathara to mark the birth anniversary of Gandhiji. Gauri Vidhubala of class X bagged the first prize in the Elocution competition and our patriotic song team secured the 2nd place.

      Sports Day : The 9th Annual Sports day got off to a colourful start on 05.11.22. The Chief Guest was Mr.Pratheesh V V(Dinkan) , Churchill brothers FC,Goa , 1 League player. The guest took the ceremonial Guard of Honour followed  by the Sports Captain Kaustubh Ram  taking the Athletes’ oath and torching the flame. Competitions were held in various disciplines and prizes were given to the winners. The Sahyadri Squad won the overall sports championship.

Kerala Piravi : Kerala Piravi was celebrated with cultural programmes presented by the students.

NSS – The NSS club of our school did a commendable service by visiting Abhaya , an Old Age Home  on 08.12.22 at Kanhangad  and gave essential items to the inmates. The students from LKG- X contributed generously to the philanthropic activity fund.

Nature Club – ‘SEED’ The nature club of our school consisting of the students of class VII came forward and made a vegetable garden with the help of the Agricultural Department Periya who provided us with the essential seeds and manure. Fresh vegetables were harvested by the students.

Grandparents Day: The Grandparent’s day was celebrated with due respect to all our grandparents on 28.09.23 making a memorable day for them. The KG students presented a colourful programme. Smt.Vijaya Kamath, W/o our Founder Chairman Late Sri Sreedhar Kamath inaugurated the function.

Diwali Celebration : A squad wise rangoli competition was held, where the students made beautiful rangolis. The KG students also had various programs on this occasion.

Children’s Day  : On the occasion of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s Birthday the school celebrated Children’s Day with a colourful programme presented by the Kindergarten kids and our teaching staff. The teachers of the KG section surprised the students with their dance performance.   

Sahodaya Fest: This year our students participated in the Kasaragod District Sahodaya competitions held at Christ CMI School, Kanhangad and Jayamatha English Medium School Kasaragod. The Students who brought laurels to our School are as follows:-

    • Sports: We have been able to achieve several laurels as our students participated in various competitions conducted by Sahodaya and CBSE. One of our students, Fathima Zahara of Class VIII won second prize in cluster 10 Athletics Meet conducted by CBSE at Malappuram and therefore eligible to compete in the National Level to be held at Varanasi. 
    • This year we formed a school hockey team and our students Mithul K P , Hrithik N Manu and Mahadevan have been selected in the State  We also formed a girls and boys Kho-Kho team who qualified for the Semi Finals under 14.

KASARAGOD DISTRICT AMATURE JUNIOR  ATHLETICS MEET HELD ON 10.10.22 &11.10.22 AT EMS Synthetic Stadium Nileshwaram

 

 

 Energy Conservation  Day: was observed on 14.12.22. A mime show on conservation of energy  was performed by the students in the assembly and a squad wise competition was held on the topic ‘Innovative  ideas on energy conservation’.

Mathrubhumi Book Fest: A three-day book exhibition was conducted on 28th, 29th and 30th November which was inaugurated by the Principal Smt. Amrutha Santhosh. The students got an opportunity to see variety of books and purchased  it. Wide range of books from prominent publishers were available at discounted prize for students and teachers.

International Science Day:  An Intersquad quiz competition was held to mark the day on 10.11.22.

Mathematics day: The birth anniversary of Sri Sreenivasan Ramanujan was celebrated on 22.12.22, the students presented programmes related to different mathematical shapes, multiplication table and Sudoku competitions were held.

  

Christmas Celebration:  Christmas celebration was marked with variety programmes by our students. Carols and Santa Claus added colour to the celebration. A beautiful cribb was also made by the staff at the entrance. The Chief Guest Father Mathew, Vicar Infant Jesus Church, Kanhangad delivered the Christmas message.

     Excursion and Field Trips :  Field trips are wonderful opportunities for the students to have   experiences beyond the classrooms. The school organized excursion and field trips to various places for all the students. This year in the month of December the students of Class Lkg – IV went to Bekal Red Moon Beach, Class V to  Mangalore , VI -VII  went on a two day trip to Talacavery and Coorg and VIII, IX and X had a three day trip to Coorg, Mysore and Bangalore.

National Youth Day: The Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was observed in the school and on this day the Kasaragod District Hockey Association presented free hockey sticks to the newly formed hockey team of our school. The CI of Hosdurg Sri Satheesh K P, Sri M Achuthan Master, Secretary Kasaragod Hockey Association and Sri M Ramakrishnan, President Kasaragod Olympic Association handed it to the upcoming players of our school.

Felicitation: A Felicitation function was organized for our budding athlete Fathima Zahara of class VIII who bagged the Silver Medal in 800m and qualified for the nationals to be held in Varanasi. Sri Vijayakrishnan K , President of the Kasaragod District Athletic Association was the Chief guest for the function.

  

Other facilities provided by Sadguru  :  

  • There are CCTV cameras installed in the campus for providing our students a secure and safe environment.
  • We also provide lunch for the students who need it.

Our office  Staffs and Supporting Staffs also support our organization with their sincere hard work.  

We are highly privileged to have highly enthusiastic and motivating parents who have shown unflinching faith in us. 

Finally the most important part are our Students. They made all our efforts truly meaningful and rewarding by their significant effort to do their best in academics and extracurricular activities. We are proud of each one of them. 

We assure you that we will encourage a child to observe, to explore, to experiment, to probe, to analyse, to confront problems and find the solution and finally to develop the skills to face the future. Praying for the blessings of the Almighty to enable us to continue the tradition of excellence in all our pursuits. 

The Academic year 2022-23 has been a year of several achievements in spite of two years online classes.  Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be reached. 

We will continue our unceasing effort to mold the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standard of education. 

All the good work of the school has been possible with the Cooperation of our highly qualified and dedicated faculty. On this occasion I wish to dedicate all our achievements to the committed efforts of our school team. We humbly salute our Visionary leaders of the past and seek the blessings of the God Almighty in all our endeavors. 

I wish to express our Sincere thanks to the members of the Managing Committee whose inspiring thoughts of hard work motivated for the success of the whole institution. This relentless support and motivation played a vital role in our achievements.
